Simply print, place your child's foot on the guide, follow the step-by-step instructions, and voila - you'll have the precise measurement needed to select the perfect size.
Don't have a printer?
- Place a piece of paper on a flat surface. Have your child stand barefoot on the paper. (For babies and walkers, you may need to hold the paper up to their feet.)
- Place a mark at the longest toe and back of the heel.
- Measure the distance between the marks and use the conversion chart to find their shoe size.
- Measure both feet. If one foot is larger than the other, fit to the larger foot.
- Use this guide and find your size based on the length of the foot in inches or cm.
At the end of the day, getting the sizing right for your child's boot should not be a brain teaser! But for some reason there seems to be a lot of confusing information out there. To cut through the noise, here are the most important things to understand about kids' shoe and boot sizes:
Toddlers' sizes run from 0-13: The smallest sizes in this range are for little babies who might not yet be walking, but the larger sizes often fit kids who are 4 or 5 years old or even older. Don't Forget: These shoes are often marked with "T" for toddler up to size 7 or 7T, for instance. Sizes 8-13 are typically marked with "Kids". So you would look for an 8 Kids.
Bigger kids' sizes run from 1-7 (or depending on the brand it could be to 6): Now pay attention because here is where it gets really confusing! Shoes for bigger kids start at size 1 and run up to 7, creating the mind bender that a size 1 shoe (in big kids' sizes) is the next size up from a size 13 shoe (in little kids' sizes). Sometimes footwear brands will help you out by having their 1-7 toddler sizes marked with "T" and their other sizes designated as "Kids.", as outlined previously.
