Rain Jackets FAQ

Are these jackets fully waterproof?

Waterproof protection isn’t one-size-fits-all; it depends on your child’s level of play and the weather. We only select gear designed for real outdoor use, but you’ll see a range of waterproof levels across products.

Check each product page for exact waterproof ratings and performance details so you can choose confidently.

What waterproof rating is recommended for outdoor school?

For outdoor school, we recommend a minimum waterproof rating of 5,000mm, but 8,000–10,000mm+ is ideal for extended rain exposure.

Why it matters:

  • 3,000mm handles light rain.
  • 5,000mm works for moderate rain.
  • 8,000–10,000mm+ holds up during heavy rain and sitting on wet ground.

Most outdoor school programs run rain or shine - so higher waterproof ratings provide better protection and fewer mid-day outfit changes.

Do I need rain bibs too?

In most cases — yes.

A jacket protects the top half. But kids sit on wet logs, kneel in mud, and slide down damp hills. Without waterproof bibs, pants get soaked quickly.

Many outdoor schools recommend full waterproof coverage:

Jacket + Rain Bibs = Dry kid at pickup.

If you want fewer wet-clothes emergencies, bibs are worth it.
